Weekly Grant Round-Up

For this cycle of FEMA Security Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants, $600 million is available for the Flood Mitigation Assistance grant program and $750 million is available to the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant program.

The application period is open from Jan. 6, 2025 – April 18, 2025. Subapplicants are encouraged to contact the state, territory or Tribal applicant as they may have earlier deadlines.

FEMA’s two competitive mitigation grant programs provide states and local communities funding to address high-level future risks to natural disasters such as wildfires, drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, extreme heat, and increased flooding to foster greater community resilience and reduce disaster suffering.

The National Park Service’s Semiquincentennial Grant Program supports the preservation of cultural resources associated with the founding of America as a nation in commemoration of the country’s Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary) in 2026.

Pre-Preservation Projects and Preservation Projects (detailed below) may be eligible.

Eligible projects must be listed in, or be determined eligible for, the National Register of Historic Places or designated as a National Historic Landmark either individually or as part of a district at the time of application.

Pre-Preservation Projects: The development of resource-specific architectural plans and specifications, historic structure reports, studies, and related surveys. Grants for pre-preservation projects will range from $15,000-$75,000 in federal share.

Preservation Projects: The physical preservation of a historic site to include historic districts, buildings, sites, structures, and objects. Preservation projects must range from $75,000 to $750,000 in federal share.

The application deadline is March 18, 2025.

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Grants for Arts program supports opportunities for public engagements with the arts and arts education, for the integration of the arts with strategies promoting the health and well-being of people and communities, and for the improvement of overall capacity and capabilities within the arts sector.

NEA funds projects in the following artistic disciplines:

- Artist Communities; Arts Education 

- Dance; Design

- Folk & Traditional Arts

- Literary Arts; Local Arts Agencies

- Media Arts and Museums

- Theater, Musical Theater, Music, Opera

- Presenting & Multidisciplinary Works; Visual Arts 

Awards range from $10,000 to $100,000 with a dollar-for-dollar match required.

The deadline to submit is February 13, 2025.

Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Initiative provides guidance and funding to cities with a population of 50,000 or more for visual art interventions on roadways, pedestrian spaces, and public infrastructure.

The program assists cities looking to use art and design to improve street safety, revitalize public spaces, and engage their communities.

Need help to bring your idea to life? On-call technical assistance from the tactical urbanism firm Street Plans and impact evaluation support from Sam Schwartz Consulting will be provided to grantees.

Large-scale projects in 10 different cities will be awarded up to $100,000.

Apply by January 31, 2025.

The Robert Lehman Foundation operates exclusively in the field of the visual arts. Grants are made to leaders in the field of the visual arts as well as innovative newcomers – museums, arts organizations, educational institutions, and other cultural organizations – to enhance the role of the visual arts within American and world culture.

The Foundation supports museum exhibitions, art education programs, scholarly publications, and art history lectureships. The art education programs they support share the goal of providing art education to underserved communities that have insufficient access to any type of arts learning.

Applications are due by April 1, 2025.
