Weekly Grant Round-Up

New Jersey counties, municipalities, school districts, commissions, authorities, and fire districts are eligible for grants through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs' Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP).

This program includes the following types of grants:

  • Challenge Grants, where local entities within each county compete for a share of $150,000 (per county) to support efficiency-generating shared services.

  • Implementation Grants, which help cover costs associated with implementing shared services. The NJDCA has allocated $6,000,000 in total for Implementation Grants.

  • County Shared Services Coordinator Grants, which are open to each New Jersey County to receive up to $75,000 to hire or designate a shared services coordinator for one year.

This is a rolling application process with a final May 30, 2025 deadline.

The goal of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) NJ Community Gardens/Farm Agreement Program is to foster environmental stewardship and sustainable agriculture in communities in New Jersey.

This opportunity for New Jersey non-profits and local governments supports conservation practice demonstrations, educational opportunities, and initiatives to engage historically underserved growers and communities in NRCS programs. Established USDA People's Gardens can also receive funding from this opportunity.

Applications are due June 7, 2025, and grant awards range from $5,000 to $20,000.

The New Jersey Historic Trust's Capital Grants are for local governments and 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations managing spaces that are listed on the National or New Jersey Register of Historic Places or are a contributing resource to a National or New Jersey Register-listed historic district.

Grants are awarded in three tiers, with awards ranging from $5,000 to $750,000. All awards have matching requirements, which vary by grant request. Eligible projects include but are not limited to:

  • The rehabilitation, restoration, and preservation of historic structures.

  • Visitor amenities.

  • Archaeological investigations.

  • Structural stabilization.

The Terra Foundation supports projects that expand narratives in American Art, with over $14 million donated in 2024. The Foundation offers the following grants to eligible nonprofits:

  • Collections Grants, ranging from $25,000 to $75,000, for Native North American and United States American art collections, research, and reinstallations.

  • Exhibition Grants, ranging from $25,000 to $200,000, for organizations to plan and present temporary exhibitions comprised primarily of loans.

  • Convening Grants, ranging from $10,000 to $25,000, for workshops, symposia, and colloquia related to American art.

Interested applicants must submit a Letter of Interest by the following deadlines:

  • February 17, 2025, for Convening Grants.

  • March 7, 2025, for Exhibition Grants.

  • August 5, 2025, for Collections Grants.
