Weekly Grant Round-Up

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs' Affordable Housing Trust Fund has three programs for providing municipalities with financial assistance to develop affordable housing in the state:

  • The Municipal Settlement Fund helps create smaller-scale projects that fit into pre-existing neighborhoods. This program helps municipalities fulfill their court-sanctioned affordable housing settlements.

  • The Neighborhood Partnerships Fund supports the development of affordable housing in Qualified Urban Aid Towns. Specifically, this fund is for projects in Qualified Urban Aid Towns that leverage other existing resources to strengthen their neighborhoods.

  • The Innovation Fund supports innovative projects, like "makerhoods" and "tiny homes" that help the Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed populations in the state. There is up to $2 million in funding for the Innovation Fund, and $6 million in funding for the Municipal Settlement and Neighborhood Partnerships funds. Applications are due June 30, 2024. Recently, Governor Murphy approved another round of funding for the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) State Aid Programs. These opportunities include:

  • Municipal Aid - funds local governments for projects that enhance public safety and improve existing infrastructure.

  • Transit Village - funds select municipalities for transportation projects within a half-mile of a transit facility.

  • Bikeways Grant - funds construction projects that expand existing bikeways, or create new ones.

  • Safe Streets to Transit - funds projects that improve pedestrian safety and encourage walking to and from local transit facilities.

There will be $150 million in total funding for the Municipal Aid program. There will be $1 million each for the other programs totaling $3 million. The Leary Firefighters Foundation "Jeremiah Lucey Grant Program" funds US fire departments to enhance operations. This program has the following eligible projects:

  • Training - to enhance the professional development of fire departments

  • Equipment - to provide the best equipment to help keep firefighters and the communities they serve safe.

  • Technology - to ensure that fire departments update along with technological advances.

This program is open to paid and volunteer fire departments. Applicants can request up to $25,000 in funding, and applications are due August 15, 2024. Click for more information and get in touch with us at hello@theaubreygroup.org for assistance.


The Truist Foundation funds nonprofits that work within the foundation's two focus areas: "building career pathways to economic mobility" and "strengthening small businesses". This grant program is for new or increased needs, such as funding to launch a new program, funding for program-specific equipment, and funding for program improvements. The Foundation will also consider capital requests for select applicants. Award sizes vary depending on the needs of the applicant and program, but requests have to be at least $5,000.
