Ongoing Federal Grant Updates: U.S. Department of Education
President Trump's Executive Order from Thursday, March 20, 2025 to dismantle the United States Department of Education has left many entities that receive grant funding from ED concerned as to what this means for their funding futures.
Congressionally set-aside funds are unlikely to be affected. Pell grants, Title I funding, and resources and funding for children with disabilities are not set to disappear and will be redistributed to other agencies and departments. Additionally, major staffing cuts in the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) will affect the ability to determine eligibility and provide support for Title I and the Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP). The most significant concern regarding ED funding lies in funding administration, as it is unclear how funds will be managed and disbursed in future fiscal years.
The Aubrey Group will continue to monitor this situation and provide more updates as necessary. You can reach out to Vice President Connor Schmiegel at cschmiegel@theaubreygroup.org / 856-535-1009 with any questions or concerns.
