The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announced this week that it is now accepting applications for the Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP). A total of $6 million has been allocated to this program. LEAP Grants provide direct support to advance the efforts of Shared Services in all local governments.
LEAP provides counties, municipalities, school districts, commissions, authorities, and fire districts assistance for the study or implementation of promising shared services projects undertaken pursuant to the Uniform Shared Service and Consolidation Act. The program is available to all New Jersey local government units. LEAP is comprised of three primary components: Challenge Grants, Implementation Grants, and County Shared Services Coordinator Grants.

The Center for Collaborative Heat Monitoring has opened applications for communities across the U.S. to monitor and evaluate factors influencing local heat risk. Selected communities will receive $10,000 and technical support to collect heat distribution data through community-led campaigns. The campaigns can help inform local cooling solutions, decision-making, advocacy, and education on heat resilience.
The application window for this opportunity closes on January 17, 2025. The center will prioritize applications from communities that have experienced historical patterns of discrimination, underinvestment and disenfranchisement and have limited resources to conduct heat monitoring on their own.
