Weekly Grant Round-Up

The New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL) has recently opened its Upskill: Incumbent Worker Training Grant Program. This grant reimburses New Jersey-based employers for frontline incumbent worker training. Employers can receive up to 50% cost reimbursement for training that allows current workers to meet current and future requirements for their positions. This program is open to all New Jersey businesses but prioritizes applications that focus on the following strategic business sectors:

  • Advanced Manufacturing

  • Clean Energy

  • Film & Digital Media

  • Finance & Professional Services

  • Food & Beverage

  • Life Sciences

  • Offshore Wind

  • Technology

  • Transportation & Logistics

Applicants can receive up to up to $500,000 in reimbursements! This program has multiple rounds of funding throughout the next year. Letters of Inquiry for the first round are due September 18, 2024. Click for more information.

The New Jersey Council for the Humanities has two grant programs for supporting public humanities projects:

  • Incubation Grants, which support the planning and development of public humanities projects.

  • Action Grants, which support the implementation or continuation of public humanities projects.

The Council for the Humanities favors proposals that display an awareness of the needs and interests of the applicant's audience and offer opportunities for public engagement. Awards from each program range from $3,000 to $15,000. Letters of Inquiry are due September 30, 2024. Click for more information.

The Department of Health and Human Services Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program provides funding to mobilize community leaders to identify and respond to the drug problems unique to their community and change local community environmental conditions tied to substance use. Program goals are:

  • To establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, public and private non-profit agencies, and federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support the efforts of community coalitions preventing and reducing substance use among youth. 

  • Reduce substance use among youth and, over time, reduce substance use among adults.

The Hyde and Watson Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in Essex, Morris, and Union Counties. This program focuses on organizations that address religion, health, the humanities, social services, and education. Grants from the foundation typically fund capital projects, such as hard costs related to construction, purchasing new facilities, or building renovations. Applicants can receive up to $20,000 in funding, and proposals are due September 16, 2024. Click for more information.
