Weekly Grant Round-Up

The United States Department of Agriculture Landscape Scale Restoration Grant funds collaborative, science-based restoration of priority rural forest landscapes, leverage public and private resources, and supports State Forest Action Plans. Program outcomes include: Improving fish and wildlife habitat; improving water quality and watershed function; mitigating invasive plant, and insect infestation and disease; reducing wildfire risk; improving forest ecosystem health; and measuring ecological and economic benefits

For the purposes of this program, “rural” means any city or town with a population of 50,000 or less according to the latest census, and applicants can receive $25,000 to $600,000.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Green Acres program provides grants and loans to help local governments accomplish the following:

• Acquire open space for recreation and conservation purposes across New Jersey.

• Develop outdoor recreational facilities for the public.

• Steward natural resources on land held for recreation and conservation purposes.

Funding awards are in the form of a matching grant, low-interest loan, or grant/loan combination, depending on the project category. Last year, awards for municipalities ranged between $300,000 and $700,000.

The Union County FY25 Local Arts Grant provides funding for local arts organizations, and non-arts organizations that offer arts activities to Union County residents. This program has two application tracks:

General Operating Support - to support the overall operations of arts organizations.

Special Project Grants - to fund a specific arts project, for arts and non-arts organizations.

Applicants can receive up to $15,000 for general operating support grants and $5,000 for special project grants. Applications are due September 24, 2024.
