The New Jersey Economic Development Authority is set to launch its "Emerging Developers" Grant Program on June 24, 2024. This program will help expand opportunities to new developers in the state and is geared toward small-scale developers who have completed at least two commercial or residential development projects. NJEDA has not yet released a full set of guidelines for the project but has stated that this program plans to "address various difficulties that continue to be a constant burden to emerging developers," as well as other deterrents to new developers entering the industry. The USDOT Wildlife Crossings Grant Program is open to municipalities for projects that reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions in their area. Applicants can propose "non-construction" project types, which include researching safety innovations to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and outreach programs to educate the public on wildlife-vehicle collisions. Municipalities can also apply for construction projects, including designing and producing an overpass for wildlife passage and preservation projects that would work in tandem with a wildlife passage project. Applicants are recommended to apply for large-scale projects of at least $200,000, with a twenty percent non-federal match component. Applications are due September 4, 2024. The Bureau of Justice Assistance's "Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program" helps municipalities and police departments purchase, lease, or replace body-worn cameras for officers. Applicants can also propose demonstration projects for better use of body-worn cameras, as well as projects that use body-worn cameras to improve a police department's officer training. Through this program, municipalities can receive up to $2,000 for purchasing or leasing a new body-worn camera for each sworn officer in a police department, with an award cap of $2,000,000 per applicant. There is a 50% match requirement for this program. Initial budgetary forms are due on July 15, and complete applications are due July 24. Click for more information. The United States Department of Labor is opening a second round of funding for its "Critical Sector Job Quality Grants" program. This program is open to nonprofit organizations, such as labor unions, training centers, and local governments, for projects that improve the quality of jobs in the hospitality, care, and climate resiliency sectors. There are two tracks for applications:
Planning Grants: Grants up to $500,000 over the course of 18 months. Planning grants support worker-centered partnerships to improve job equity and job quality within the care, climate resiliency, and hospitality sectors.
Implementation Grants: Grants up to $3 million over the course of three years. Implementation grants invest in established partnerships that are ready to implement specific worker-centered strategies that will improve job quality within the care, climate resiliency, and hospitality sectors.
