The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), in partnership with the Murphy Administration, will purchase up to $100 million in property from NJ TRANSIT, such as surface parking lots, to help expand commuter hubs across the state and meet a variety of critical needs. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development Eviction Protection Grant Program offers funding for government entities and nonprofits to provide legal assistance at no cost to low-income tenants who are at risk or subject to eviction. Selected projects will report on information about tenants served, legal assistance services, outcomes, and collaborative activities, as well as expand on evidence around eviction prevention and diversion programming. There are 25 total awards available, $40,000,000 in funding, and recipients will receive between $500,000 - $2,500,000. Applications are due August 20, 2024. The US Department of the Interior is offering a grant to support municipalities and nonprofits to document, interpret, and preserve the sites and stories of the full history of the African American struggle to gain equal rights from transatlantic slave trade forward. The program funds history and preservation projects using the NPS report, Civil Rights in America, A Framework for Identifying Significant Sites, as a guide in determining the appropriateness of proposed projects and properties. This grant will fund a broad range of history projects including survey and planning, research and documentation, interpretation and education, and collections conservation. Award recipients will receive funding between $15,000 - $75,000. Applications are due September 5, 2024. The National Endowment for the Arts "Our Town" Grant will fund nonprofits and municipalities to support activities that integrate arts, culture, and design into local efforts that strengthen communities over the long term. Strong projects will include clearly identified local characteristics of a community and aim to demonstrate the specific role for the arts to strengthen the local community. Projects will also promote new programs or deepen existing engagement with a diverse range of local partners. Awards range between $25,000-$150,000. The due date to apply is August 1, 2024.
